Susan Grosdov

Susan Grosdov was born and raised in Norwich. Although she left Norwich nearly 50 years ago to attend college at Hofstra and then Northeastern, she has carried her memories of Otis Library with her. After completing both her undergraduate and graduate degrees, she fell in love with the Boston area. She speaks with great affection about her 35+ year career at Harvard Medical School, knowing that she worked alongside change-makers to make a significant impact on overarching health policies, which has meant the world to her.
When reflecting on her life and career, Susan confidently names Otis Library as one of the organizations that shaped her into the person she is today. “Otis was simply always there,” she said. “I remember visiting after school nearly every day to complete my homework with my sister Brenda, and I will never forget Miss Avery letting me stamp the backs of books,” Susan shared.
Last spring, Susan visited Otis Library to honor her late sister, Brenda, who was a regular patron and well-known by our staff. Susan expressed without hesitation that celebrating Brenda’s life with a gift that promotes reading was the right decision. “Otis Library was one of the most significant parts of her life. It meant so much to her throughout the years,” said Susan.
In tribute to Brenda, Susan became a Presenting Sponsor for our Evening with an Author event. Since then, she has continued to provide essential support to Otis Library and has recently renewed her commitment to be a Presenting Sponsor for the 21st Annual Evening with an Author, featuring Kelly Corrigan and Claire Lichty Corrigan, which is scheduled for Friday, June 6, 2025.
Susan has embraced retirement and continues to enjoy reading, crafting, and occasional travel. Recently, she showcased three pieces of her art at a local studio. She concluded our conversation with a heartfelt wish: “I wish every town had an Otis Library and that every child could spend time there!”
