Welcome to the Children's Department

Visit our fun and bright space full of books, toys, coloring, and computers. We provide materials, events, and services for children, birth through 12 years. Our friendly staff are happy to recommend great books for every age and reading level. Come to read, play, learn, and connect!

Summer Meals: July 1 - August 16

Norwich Public Schools in collaboration with End Hunger Connecticut offers free and nutritious meals to youth in the summer! Stop by Otis Library during our designated distribution time to enjoy a meal.

Breakfast: 9:30 AM – 9:45 AM
Lunch: 12:30 PM – 1:00 PM
*No meals are served during the last five minutes.
**No meals on July 4

Meals are free to any child age 18 and under, no questions asked. All meals must be eaten onsite; no grab-and-go is permitted. Summer Meals meet federal nutrition guidelines and are composed of milk, fruits, vegetables, grains, and meat or another protein.

Book Bundles

The Children’s Department is offering Book Bundles! Fill out an easy online form about your child’s age and interests and staff will curate a bundle of books for you to check out at circulation. We can also include videos, music and toys with requests. Book bundles are ready in 1-3 days and patrons have one week to pick them up.

1000 Books Before Kindergarten

Reading aloud to your child is an essential part of language development. The 1000 Books program was designed to help with the process. Visit the Library after each 100 books read to receive a sticker, new log sheet, and prize for select milestones.
